What is JEE Main Exam?
The Joint Entrance Examination (Main), commonly referred to as JEE Main, is conducted for admissions to BTech, BArch, and BPlan programs at NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), as well as institutions and universities recognized or funded by participating State Governments. Additionally, the JEE Main serves as a qualifying examination for JEE Advanced, which is necessary for admission to IITs.
JEE Main is administered twice annually, providing students with two chances to achieve a favorable score. Candidates may choose to participate in one or both attempts.
To gain admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), candidates must pass the JEE Main by attaining the required minimum cutoff marks. The competition is fierce, with hundreds of thousands of students competing each year, making thorough preparation crucial for aspirants.
The JEE Main 2025 exam will consist of three papers:
⇒ Paper 1 is designated for admission to BE/BTech courses and includes questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from classes 11 and 12.
⇒ Paper 2A and 2B are for admission to BArch and BPlan courses, respectively. Paper 2A comprises Mathematics, an Aptitude Test, and Drawing, while Paper 2B includes Mathematics, an Aptitude Test, and Planning-related questions.
The NTA JEE Mains 2025 examination will primarily be computer-based, with the exception of the Drawing section in Paper 2, which will be conducted using pen and paper. The NTA has previously announced modifications to the JEE Main 2025 exam pattern. According to the revised format, Section B of the JEE Main 2025 exam will now consist of only 5 questions per subject, and candidates are required to answer all 5 questions without any option for choice. JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2025
To qualify for the JEE Main exam, candidates must have either completed or be currently enrolled in Class 12, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their primary subjects. There are no age restrictions or minimum score requirements in Class 12 to take the exam; however, candidates are permitted to attempt it for three consecutive years following their Class 12 completion.
